Information on the Earth

Hey guys, welcome to my Information on Earth blog. Hope you guys enjoy it.

                                                                                Earth

The distance from Earth to the sun is  93 million miles or 149.6 million km. Earth is 4.543 billion years old. Earth is the fifth largest planet in the solar system and the densest. The highest place on Earth is Mount Everest.

Earth is the only planet that has liquid water on its surface. When viewed from outer space much of the Earth’s surface cannot be seen because of clouds of water vapour.

The third planet from the Sun is Earth. Earth orbits round the Sun it tilts very slightly and so it gives us the seasons. 1.3 million Earths could fit inside the sun! The core of Earth is about as hot as the sun.
100 times per second lightning hits Earth or 8.6 Million times per day.

According to the WWF Earth lost 40% of its wildlife in the past 40 years. If the earth didn't have the moon, our days would only be 6 hours long. Humans can use only about .003 percent of the water on Earth. Oceans cover 71% of the Earth's surface. There are approximately 3.04 trillion trees on earth.

64.3 million moons could fit inside the sun.

Ludwig Van Beethoven

Hey guys and welcome to another one of my blogs! This time I’m doing a blog about Ludwig Van Beethoven. See you there!

                                 Ludwig Van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. This German composer who played the violin and also the piano was known to be one of the greatest musicians of all time. His childhood was hard because of his father’s strict discipline and alcohol problems. Beethoven’s mother died when he was 18 years old so Beethoven had became the head of the family, taking care for his two younger brothers.

When he moved to Vienna, Austria, his two younger brothers came with him. Beethoven stayed in Vienna from 1792 and for the rest of his life. Early in the 1800s, Beethoven’s hearing started to fade out. However, Beethoven did not suffer from his hearing loss but instead gained in richness and power over the years.

Playing the piano

Beethoven was never married. Beethoven died on March 26, 1827, at the age of 56, the cause of his death was post-hepatitic cirrhosis of the liver.  He also created a piece of music called Fur Elise. (Um…….. Not to brag AGAIN but I can play it)

Antonio Vivaldi

Hey guys, whats up. Welcome to another blog! This time I’m doing a blog about Antonio Vivaldi. Hope you all enjoy it. See you there!

                                                  Antonio Vivaldi

Antonio Vivaldi was a professional violinist born in Venice, Italy on March 4th 1678, Early in his life he became a priest and because of his bright red hair, he earned the nickname “Red Priest”. In 1703 at an orphanage for girls he became a music teacher and stayed there until 1740!

The orphanage for girls

Vivaldi may best be known as the champion of the Baroque concerto (concerto is a musical composition for a solo instrument or instruments accompanied by an orchestra) having composed over 400 concertos throughout his life you could probably say that he was amazing at playing a violin.
A Violin

Without question, Vivaldi’s most famous work is the set of four violin concertos called The Four Seasons spring, summer, autumn, and winter. (Not to brag but um… I can play the Winter)
In June, 1741 Vivaldi travelled to Vienna where only one month later he died of unknown causes at the age of 67.  Although he had alot of money during his life he died poor without even hvaing a grave. Some of his music is lost, but interestingly new pieces keep being discovered.

The Roman Musuem

Hey guys, today I'm doing another museum blog. This time I went to the The Roman Musuem. Hope you enjoy the blog. See you!

     The Roman Museum

We decided to go to this museum because we have been studying the Romans. We were staying with my Grandma and Grandpa in Canterbury, Kent, and we discovered a Roman museum tucked away in one of the little side streets that leads to the cathedral in Canterbury. After a heavy bombing in WW2 remains of a Roman town house were found and a museum was built around it.

(This is what happens when you tell a Roman that he is ugly!)

At the start of the museum we saw how Canterbury would have looked before the Roman invasion. The houses were simple round buildings made of mud and straw. We then we saw a picture map of how the Romans changed Canterbury significntly with their impressive arcitecture. After searching for more interesting things we found exhibitions on the everyday life for the Romans. They even had a fast food bar which sells oysters!

(But first, let me take a SELFIE!)

The Romans were great at crafts. Surprisingly they even made hairpins out of bones.

(At least they're not made out of human bones........... I hope)

The wealthy Romans had slaves to do the cleaning and different chores.

(This sucks!)

We thought that the museum was about to end but then we discovered the final exhibition, which was the BEST one. It was the impressive remains of a Roman town house that included an underground heating system and mosaics. The remains were once at ground level, but now hey are underground. This is because the ground level has risen over time as new building were constructed on rubble.

The mosaic found after bombing in WW2

I would recommend this museum because it was very small but very detailed which means you can take the information in. This museum gives lots of information about Roman life in Canterbury.

The Horniman Museum!

Hey guys. Today I'm going to do a blog on the Horniman museum. Hope you all enjoy it. See you there! (Thanks Steve for taking us)

                    The Horniman Museum

The Horniman Museum is located in Forest Hill, London. There are a variety of things to see including a Natural history section and an Aquarium. These elements are always on display but there are also different temporary exhibitions running for a few months only. During our visit one of the the temporary displays was Taxidermy, which is an old craft of stuffing animals.

We visited the aquarium first. There were many creatures to see including jellyfish, clownfish and Starfish. It was very pleasant to walk through because you never knew what was around the corner. It was a great layout. After the excitement of the aquarium we discovered the Music Gallery which housed unusual global instruments. Every instrument had a number code which you can enter into a computer. The computer then gives you information about the instrument and a sound demonstration which was awesome!

At the end of the trip we went to burn off some energy in the amazing gardens of the Horniman museum. Overall we had a lovely time I would recommend this museum because it’s a bit smaller than other museums so you don’t get as overwhelmed. Scott Joplin

Hey guys. Welcome to my information on Scott Joplin Blog. I'm writing this because I am currently learning one of his peaces on the Guitar. Hope you enjoy it. see you There!

                                                        Scott Joplin

Scot Joplin was an African-American pianist. He was known as the king of Ragtime - but what exactly is Ragtime? Well, it's a type of music that like it's name suggests has a ragged rhythm. It was most popular between 1895 - 1919. Like Scott Joplin,it's roots were in African-American culture in the Southern US.

Interestingly, Joplin first got in touch with a piano at a house where his mother worked as a made to a white family. A piano teacher noticed Joplin's talent and helped him.  When Joplin grew older he moved from his birth town and became a piano teacher himself.

He started publishing his music in 1895 and became famous by 1899.  He unfortunately became ill with syphilis and passed away. After his death his music became even more popular globally. His most well known piece is The Entertainer. He even wrote 2 operas!
