1: Kazahstan is the 9th largest country by size in the world.

2: Population: 17.04 million (2013).

3: Capital: Astana.

4: The countries that border Kazakstan are Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, A lot of stans :).

5: Official languages: Kazakh, Russian.

6: The highest mountain in Kazakhstan is the Khan Tengri mountain.

7: Stan is an ancient Persian word meaning “land” or “nation”.

8: Kazakhs believe that whistling a song inside a building will make you poor for the rest of your life.

9: The Kazakh word for “dog” is pronounced “eat.”

10: Out of the 110 elements from Mendeleev’s table of chemical elements, 99 have been detected in Kazakhstan.
